Severino P. R. Sumulong

Mr. Sumulong is the Director for Business Development of A.F. Private Limited in charge of developing and marketing its various offshore services including company formation, nominee services, company secretarial services, fiduciary services and tax advisory services for its clients worldwide.

Severino has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a major in Business Management from the De La Salle University in Manila and has been a practicing lawyer in the Philippines for over 23 years after obtaining his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Ateneo de Manila University and successfully passing the 1985 Philippine bar examinations.

He began his law career by handling the litigation and corporate practice of his father’s law firm who was then a member of Philippine Congress. Subsequently, he joined a major Philippine law firm where he was designated as the firm’s deputy managing partner while also attending to the firm’s corporate law, e-commerce law, franchise law, taxation and project finance practice.

In 2003, he was appointed as president of a finance company as well as a director and corporate counsel for a multinational plastic closure company, a telecommunications company and venture capitalist company. In 2004, he was appointed as director and general counsel for two publicly-listed IT companies in the Philippines.

Considering his extensive legal and business experience as well as his network of high net worth individuals and business leaders in the Philippines and the Asia Pacific region, in 2005 Mr. Sumulong was tasked to head the Philippine operations for one of the predecessors of the AFP Group. Soon thereafter, he moved to Hong Kong and became more involved in the Hong Kong operations until the company’s reorganization in 2006 when he was appointed as the Senior Manager for business development of A.F. Private Limited. In 2008, he became a member of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants having completed the course and graduated cum laude.
